Another master class in how to organize and win. Especially in how to talk--know the local audience. Respect people, listen to them, tell the truth. You're not going to please everybody. People don't expect 100% agreement, either. Just enough to see what we have in common; the heart of coalition politics.

I got a kick out of the trying to do law school story. In the '80s I actually did biz school for a year and a half. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, know thine enemy, something like that. Besides, it was the height of the "greed is good" era. {{We're still living in it?! <sigh>}} Had a great accounting prof, who looked at us and asked why all these bright minds were in a such a dull class. Okay for him and others good at arithmetic. The intelligent should be in the sciences and the creatives in the arts. One other older student and I laughed, the rest sat there blank faced. They knew corporate life meant fitting in and he'd just tossed them a curve ball. I soon decided my labor background too ingrained, too dear to me. I'd rather be dead than ever in management. And no, I'm not kidding.

We say, if this can happen in Texas today (again), then by Jove it can happen anywhere in this country! Keep up the drumbeat, Jim and Kendall. Great read!
