Friday Signpost: The Interview that Trump, Paxton and Their Corporate Cronies Don’t Want You to See

Here we are again.

Texas has a competitive Senate race with James Talarico leading by 4 points this week, and Republicans are running scared. Remember when Trump’s FCC threatened Stephen Colbert if CBS aired his interview with Talarico? Well, they’re doing it again with Jimmy Kimmel and ABC: threatening their FCC license if they air the interview, claiming “equal time” for candidates is required.

So, the solution would be for Ol’ Ken Paxton to go on late-night shows, but a polished turd is still a turd. Ken is smart enough to know what he is, so he won’t go on late-night TV. In fact, he’s thus far refused to even commit to a debate with James Talarico.

Yet, when it comes to James Talarico, Republicans are scared. In fact, Ken is so detested that Republicans are having to send out the “he’s not the perfect candidate, but he’s not a Democrat” notes to their voters. Or the message they’re spreading on their social media: Talarico is evil and represents evil forces that are against God and the only one to stop him is Ken Paxton (true story—my own relative told me this, ignoring mine and Talarico’s Christian faith, but I digress).

So, context provided, Republicans and Trump are so scared of Talarico (and other Democrats in Texas) that they are holding a special mid-term national convention in Dallas this week to get Texas Republicans their base out to vote. That’s the kind of shaky ground they’re on. They’re begging Musk and Trump to pump money into Corrupt Ken Paxton’s Senate Campaign. Musk has pledged $10 million to Ol’ Ken, because regular folks don’t want to give to him – all they have is big money and fearmongering.
