When WILL we be sufficiently bullied by the orange pipsqueak to kick him out of the Oval Office and into an institution that will provide him with an orange jumpsuit? It hasn't happened soon enough so far. How about today?

He did say that he has the concept of a plan for healthcare (much better than the ACA, natch). Maybe by Christmas? Oy, what a bad joke. You think he will have only male nurses to empty his bedpan when he is in the hospital??

Judith Green's avatar

Bedpan emptying will definitely be relegated to women in line with his misogyny!

Patricia DeVea's avatar

But interestingly there are also male nurses. Just more females, I believe.

While neoliberalism certainly provided the framework (and a lot of the buzzwords for today's pols and CEOs), the particularly nasty, mean-spirited, disrespectful language about women is pure Trump. His brand appeals to people who know even less about economics than he does. When Trump "cuts a deal", Americans suffer - especially those who voted for him twice. The rest of us will muddle through, in the firm knowledge that this kind of bull manure will not last. Let's look at all this as a learning experience - painful, but long overdue.

Alas, all the children he is facilitating the deaths of via rfk Jr, will have nary a chance to learn anything...

We need to learn that our government does not represent us. 1 snake 2 heads - time for additional parties and the release of corporation's on our government. and of course of the Israeli lobby. they have free health care that we subsidize

I will remain forever flummoxed that 100 million women didn't vote out every gop for the next 40 years. just stunned. wtaf is going on? Nurses do all the work, the only time you see a doctor is before surgery or when they breeze by your bed to prescribe drugs.

So Trump has finally found a use for the Department of Education. Just like him to use his underlings to do harm instead of good. Rich S, Octogenarian and Contrarian

We have had more than a hundred years of the ultra-wealthy pushing, buying, corrupting -to get this first of the democracies to be more and more right-wing and oligarchical, less democratic. Both Roosevelts recognized this push and worked against it, as did Louis Brandeis of the used-to-be Supreme Court (now the oligarch enablers) and many others. Reagan shoved in this direction, as did Clinton (repeal of Glass Stegall Act, Welfare Reform) then Trump 1 and now, out of the closet and to the max, T2. This shoving is going on in all the western democracies and not, so is a symptom, not just of the US, but of the vulnerabilities of nations. The accumulation of wealth appears to be the main culprit, but other forms of power (the military, secret police, spies...) available in dictatorships, communist and otherwise also appear to render this possible. There are always people available who are not supporters of democratic ideas and behaviors who will participate in authoritarian power grabs; they were the loyalists in the American Revolution, present and active during the 8 year war and largely pushed out of the new United States after the war's conclusion. We still have them and have not been able to do anything about that, so far, other than debate and legislation and a mostly honest legal system - struggling with the lies that deliberately poison the public debate and drive people apart and fool some of them about what's true, a procedure as well as a goal for those who would rule. We need a way for government of, by and for the people to prevent this, to stop it when it gets beyond control as it now is. Lynn Means

OMG. So true. SOOO PATHETIC. Thank you for bringing to my attention the fact that the Asshole-in-Chief downgraded nurses from the professional class and its implications...and also for pointing out the not-so-subtle effects on women in general. And once again, I appreciate the link so we can pursue further action to protest.

Another attempt to get rid of non-“white “ workers, professional or otherwise. I trust my nurses: no matter color, race or ethnicity.

Pat Smith's avatar

stop adding to the division. Workers no matter what color. I went to the democratic Labor Day event here in el paso and honestly all their talks were about Hispanics and how disadvantaged they are. This just keeps us divided. Talk about Americans and also acknowledge the large percentage of Male nurses.

The ultimate goal of the 2026 project is to purposefully kill 50 million Americans They are on their way with other goals as well.

Pat Smith's avatar

Kill or injure??? THey have been injuring our children for decades - first with mercury in the shots and them they withdrew mercury from children's shots but they added additional maiming material to their mixture - no shot has been through a true placebo trail and some had only been tested for 5 days with a small cohort. You question big business and let the pharmaceutical industry get away with murder. And it starts on day 1 with the deadly HEB B shot with 250 times the allowable amount of aluminon. YOu think that may cause some issues to include in some cases death. Lots of seizures and even stroes. SO how many did they kill with COVID?? the covid shot? their miss handling of the covid treatments - Ivermectin is not just for horses - but resdemerin (?) not a good speller but it stand for run dealth is near - but that was their treatment of choice..

Thank you once again, Jim and Co. I swear I can't even bear to read the front-page headlines in the NY Times anymore for fear of seeing the latest idiocies blurped out by this administration. I skip right to the third-page Mini-Puzzle in the paper these days--gee, wonder if I'm getting my subscription's moneysworth....

Fergus Howard's avatar

At least you have a newspaper.

Phil Heagy's avatar

You got a point there, Fergus! Where I live we also get a "local" newspaper (courtesy of Gannett Enterprises), with the local news originating in the opposite corner of our state (Pennsylvania). And it's sure fun reading how the eel fishing in Lake Erie is doing, when I'm down not far from the tip of Delaware....

In most other countries, insurance corporations don't run the health care system, and costs are lower.

Fergus Howard's avatar

Well, Trump the Lump certainly knows a little about hiring non-professionals! Seriously though, if it wasn’t for the PA’s, RN’s, LPN’s and skilled techs I see I would have little real medical CARE. They spend a lot more meaningful time with me than the MD’s.

Are you surprised?

Nope. We have known this for a while.

When your brain is honestly struggling, one's old age breakdowns start returning one to immaturity, to child-like actions and remarks, to bullying those you don't like, to swearing in public when at the mike was meant for a professional. But he's not a professional, he's a celebrity in a celebrity show, daily on television and social media, wreaking as much insulting harm as he can. Having fun, yet, Mr.? Let's call a spade a spade, and bury him away from public consumption.
