Another thing "stuck in my craw" is that some States have determined that the Bible must be taught in public schools and the ten commandments posted in all classrooms! My strong feeling about this is that now that there is no separation between church and state, that all churches in those states lose their tax exempt status and start paying taxes on their properties.
Totally agree we must protect the separation of church and state. If we go religious in schools we stand to damage children whose religions differ from the religious right's view.

Gore v Bush was of course, the most recent and most blatant whack at the notion of Democracy and the rule of law. Without any legal justification, they actually STOPPED the counting of votes in the already IQ challenged state of Florida and gave us the dimwit known as George W. Jim! As an agricultural expert I'm sure that you would understand my mother's declaration to me as a child that, "What do you expect from a pig but a grunt?"
