The Deep Lowdown #2 Preview: Citizens United and Big Money in Politics
We’ve been steadily working on our next issue of The Deep Lowdown, which will focus on the massive impact that the Citizens United decision has had on our politics—and what we can do about it. We’ve already discovered actions folks can take that we didn’t know about, and tidbits of history that could help shape how we think about the moment that we’re in.
We want to know: What do you want to understand about Citizens United? What are some organizations and actions you’ve seen that have had impact, even in small ways? What are some of best articles and books you’ve read about excessive money in politics? Let us know in the comments.
In the meantime, in case you missed our debut issue, check it out below. We’ll also be sharing a video of Hightower answering some reader questions about populism soon!

I feel Citizen's United was probably the most destructive decision handed down in my lifetime for our democracy. I feel that we need a Constitutional Amendment to fix this permanently. And we also need to resurrect the Equal Rights Amendment to protect the rights of ALL people - not just certain men. I am so looking forward to the Deep Dive and also for readers' comments. Thank you Jim Hightower!
