What amazes me about outbreaks of bribery among high government officials is not just the level of greed involved, but that the take is often so cheesy.
As a P.S. to the above: one of our favorites is Mother Jones Magazine. The writers are fearless and ferocious. We have subscribed to MoJo since our college days, and it just gets better. Check it out.

Yep- that's what it is. Bribery is bad, and it stinks to high heaven. "Campaign donations" is just a nicer way of saying bribery - like perfume sprayed on a dung heap. As a number of previous commentators have asked: Who keeps reelecting these people, and why are they doing it?

We could have a system of campaign finance regulation that would render almost irrelevant the amount of cash a candidate would spend. Betraying the public trust is a crime of the greatest magnitude....The entity offering the bribe and the elected official taking the bribe are criminals and should be prosecuted severely.
Of course ,lobbying and donating to a political campaign is a form of legal graft.
