Welcome to our Friday open thread for August! If you’re wondering what an open thread is, check out this post from July for all the info. Our premium subscribers get full access to all of our work, and the ability to comment on all posts, so let’s get together in the comments and chat! (Not sure how to post comments? Check out our Tech FAQ for more info.) Also: some of you reply to the email you get from us to share your thoughts, and while we read all incoming email, we also love it when our community shares with each other in the comments. That way, we’re all learning from each other (and often have a really good time doing so).
This month, we’re highlighting the work of one of our favorite political cartoonists, Jen Sorensen. She’s a Pulitzer Prize finalist, a Herblock Award winner and a recipient of the Robert F. Kennedy (Sr.!) Journalism Award. To boot, she’s a really fun person that we love spending time with, which is just icing on the cake. Her recent comic about “quackery quotas” struck a nerve with us, and we’d love for you to subscribe to her newsletter— she’ll fill you in on all kinds of interesting political context, in addition to creating great cartoons.
What are you reading, listening to, watching that we should know about? Let us know in the comments!
