This pipeline will be, if completed, carrying natural gas obtained by fracking the Marcellus shale underlain regions of eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania. That has resulted in strong support from the state legislatures of those states as well as West Virginia and Virginia. Hoping for the courts to stop projects like this is something of a Hail Mary pass. We're at least nominally citizens of a democratic country. Progressives need to figure out how to win power in elected bodies at every level of government. We can't count on courts to save us from bad things happening, when it is generally the case that elected officials determine who will be sitting behind the benches. The Dobbs decision is exhibit one for my argument.

The US Supreme Court is stacked with 6of 9 Judges having had involvement with the Federalist Society, a very fossil fuel corporate friendly association. Manchin is pushing for the Mountain Valley Pipeline decision to go to SCOTUS.
