Wouldn't it be wonderful if "representatives" actually represented us? I joined No Labels for email updates. Hmm. No mention of Harlan Crow. Why does our politics have to be so repugnant? So many secret donors and operators. No Labels says they're in the middle. Middle of what? I'm getting old and I'm sick of these false fronts in our politics. Always being gaslighted. Can't ANYONE be TRUTHFUL AND HAVE MORALS? Thank you for calling this sham out. As if we don't have enough to contend with!!

Sheesh. Here I thought that the Reptilicans were just like the know-nothing party, what with their policies, actions, buffoonery, and well, Louis Gohmert. Always kind of suspicious anything endorsed by Joe Lieberman, too.

Why am I not surprised? And why is nothing being done about our not so supreme court? Three lied under oath about respecting precedent, one is openly for sale and has a spouse who wanted to overturn our constitution, another is a proponent of the greatest scientific thought of the eighteenth century and the chief resides in la la land where all is well.

I hate this spoiler effect. We need to get rid of the Electoral College.

WHAT you need right now is: The 'moneyed elite' who finance these campaigns. Nothing less.

Let's see the money?

When the Repubs started offering presidential candidates but no political platform that was the announcement that "we are the party of power and money."

There is no coherent political discourse, only appeals to the easily-fooled (God, guns, and gays is an old standby to suck in the angry hordes).

And now here we have the very rich sponsoring false prophets of some reasonable viewpoints in order to dilute the Democratic vote. Repubs no longer talk policy and diplomacy, it is just trickery, deceit, gaming of the system, and all forms of chicanery. Their one great accomplishment is getting millions of middle class halfwits to vote against their own self-interest.

Is "No Labels" going to be endorsing any political candidates? Would such conduct violate their status as a "Social Welfare" organization? I view the group as nothing more than a well-funded effort to dissuade potential voters from voting to re-elect President Biden.

How can anyone vote for a Group which has NO name/donors etc.?

Thank you, Jim. Wow. Harlan Crow—again. Ignoring for the moment the exploitative way he has accumulated his wealth, we see a person who really could be lifting a few boats by perchance paying more taxes or supporting innumerable independent pro-democratic, pro-economic justice, and pro-environmental initiatives and programs, and yet he puts his money into strangling any semblance of fairness we might build into our economic and social lives so he can, ultimately, die excessively wealthy. It’s pathologically self-centered.

We definitely need higher taxes on individual wealth and to limit the role of wealth in campaigning for office.

When the tRump Administration touted the end of estate taxes most people did not realize that it was only for estates valued at $5million (or was it $500 million?) Dollars or more that would be exempt from taxation.

NO. You need to see who is contributing?

That was great info. Would be great if you took a step back, and realized the so-called left wing and so-called right wing are 2 parts of the same bird. And like you said, the only things in the middle of the road are a big yellow stripe and dead armadillos.

Here's a hint:

" a decentralized network of governments, global corporations, banks, think tanks, media conglomerates, global health authorities, non-governmental governing entities, and other unaccountable persons and entities that establish and enforce the official ideological “reality” that we currently live in … which, call it what you want, but it’s global capitalism.

This supranational network of power (which is a system, not a conspiracy of individuals, and which I often refer to as “GloboCap,” much as it irritates some of my conservative readers) is going totalitarian on us. It has been happening, gradually, since the 1990s. I’ve been warning about this development for several years now. It has taken a while, but more and more of my colleagues are starting to see the big picture. Some of them are starting to use the “T-word.” Which is good. We need to call things what they are.

let me know if you need more background info.

Also, the censorship is real. Good luck trying to stay healthy in the future.

Great intro about this ultra-Right scam—or is it spam?

Next, Jim, connect the dots to Joe Manchin, the sham(e) of Not Wild, Not Wonderful West (Not-by-my-G-d) Virginia. Of all the phonies in Congress—and I know you’ll agree there’s bushels of ‘em—Manchin May be the most dangerous. After all, he alone was the factor behind ending the Childhood Allowance program—and it appears that he’s vying to be the Unlabeleds’ Candidate.

The WV State Legislature is now a Republican Super Majority that is pushing hydraulic Fracturing for natural gas and transportation pipelines to overseas markets, life supporting habitat and country folks be damned. I can't see how he could have gotten elected without all of the fossil fuel extraction money campaign contributions, not to mention that Manchin is a coal baron himself. Business in case of urgency

We need to 1. change the requirements of the 501(c)(4) entities to require disclosure of donor sources and 2. tax the Harlan Crows to the point that we can afford the good parts of our government.

The for profit and non-profit corporate status is a powerful economic manipulater. Why do the Environmental Protection non-profits say that they don't want to make political statements or they will lose their tax exempt status, while Churches (the Lord's) can evangelizes all kinds of politics but are still tax exempt. For profit Corporate paper fantasy ripping off the people using the nonprofit corporate tax exempt paper fantasy to take more money that was supposed to be used as a tool to help certain species to maintain a healthy life supporting habitat. Could we look to the Audubon Society to find and support a candidate for some office without them losing their tax exempt status? Well,a lawyer once told me that the more crooked things are the more money the lawyers make. We need a change of spirit to where controlling money is not the desired end result not the measure of value with the paperwork to support it. Like the end of this war based economc structure

Jim, This recommendation is not a quick fix. It's about 150 years too late, but we've got to begin. Our Founders knew that the constitution would prove to be an "imperfect document" and recommended revisiting it from time to time. I seem to remember they thought twenty years or so should be about right. Well, 1806 has come and gone. We must get started on another constitutional convention. The amendment process cannot fix the glaring flaws, which have been made so obvious by the events of the last decade. How do I lobby for it?

The party of Greed, Opportunity, and Profit (GOP) and their rich backers are about to make a mess of this country's Constitutional values of free and fair elections. They have changed voting districts in NC to increase their majority of representatives from current equal REPs to DEMs to one more REP and one less DEM.
