I hate it when people make comments that indicate that young people are the main ones who fight. I was in college from 69 to 73. I went to so many war protests I can't count them. I was a Denver teacher who participated in walk outs and a big strike. I have rebelled non-stop since college. Many older people are like me, while I know young people who don't even bother to vote. Now that I've complained, I've got to say: This newsletter is a joy. You always find something positive and humorous to share. I love the picture of Bezos with a tiara. It made my Christmas Eve morning. It was a joy, like the Bernie votive candle. Many Blessings

Democrats now have a chance to flip the script.

EVERY Democrat EVERY DAY must blast the DEEP STATE which is obviously the wealthy and corporations.

A recent survey of young Americans found 41% think the UHC CEO shooting was acceptable for all the denied claims, bankruptcies and early deaths in the hands of the healthcare industry.

But Democrats must follow up the blasting with solutions for the sick, the poor, and unions.

Solutions can include:

1. taxing the rich,

2. limiting corporate pay (baseball has luxury tax),

3. supporting Medicare for ALL,

4. allowing drugs with FDA approval to be bought internationally, and

5. clamping down on Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) who get half of all drug costs.

Let's use the Trump playbook to use up all the oxygen with the above and make this a

A tough road ahead for American politics. Solutions would include getting rid of Citizens United(good luck), limiting ability of PAC’s to receive unlimited anonymous donations, and reducing the timeframe anyone can campaign to January 1st of the election year. Less expensive and if you can’t get your message across to the people in 10 months you shouldn’t be running anyway.

I love that idea. But Musk has money Donald doesn't have. Donald needs him right now.

AMEN! These corporate greed-heads are the ones responsible for the ever increasing wealth gap in our society. No real scruples. Just gimme more of your wealth, and they are happy to have the Golden One facilitate that by reducing or eliminating any regulations that would stiffle that goal.

Thanks Mr Hightower! This was a very timely story about the orange "Messiah". We need to follow Australia's example. They just limited campaign contributions to 20,000 dollars.

And let us not forget the ultra-wealthy corporate CEOs who were not founders of their companies. Think of the widespread economic violence perpetrated by them through mergers, buyouts, and bankruptcies while they stuff their pockets.

Jim, I am somewhat offended by this ever-renewed moan about the young, as though only youth is due consideration. I once was young, but I outgrew it. Any disagreement we , of the college age youth of the 60s had by with the establishment was resolved, as such matters usually are, by much air expended, and little changed! The real reason that the political arena is dominated by the feeble oldsters is because the able youngsters b haven’t yet b glommed onto what it takes to have political office and b influence - - - great wealth! So, what are we a gonna do ‘bout it? I imagine that, having attained the age of 80, that there’s nothing I can offer to posterity, except to get out of the way of youth and b greater wisdom.

Jim Hightower, I read that Trump and Musk might be on the "outs" with each other. If so, Musk might find a way to work with JD Vance. Instead of being a sycophant, Musk might become the de facto president? Horrors! Is there any way to stop this avalanche? Must we wait until 2026 when the House turns over and one-third of the Senate is up for grabs?

Thanks to outgoing President Biden for appointing so many Federal judges. This could be our firewall at the Federal level. And for securing funds for the social and environmental programs he has initiated during his time as President.

Trump criticized the deep state because he wanted to run it and improve it on his behalf. He convinced too many voters that it went after him and so they helped him get elected so he could use it against others.
