I wonder whether we are now at the point of having one of those dictator loving rubber- stamp courts we used to tsk, tsk about. You know, back when the U.S. Supreme Court deserved and enjoyed respect. Only now the “Dictator” appears to be the Federalist right-wing ideology of the Kochs and their ilk.

This old hick in N.C. could not agree more!! I am actually afraid to write what I know to be fact as I am sure I would be sued and prosecuted therefor---It is a dam shame these self serving group of "JUSTICES" are the epitomy of what is wrong with our system

Others have said it better, so I'll borrow from one of them and hope -- likely against hope -- that the six justices, who seem to me to be reactionary, not conservative, will eventually 'get it.' It's this: "None are so blind as those who cannot see."

Not to mention payment of money by old Alumni to get their kids into the best!

Take this advantage away and there will be more places.

I like your description of the six wing-nuts of The Supreme Court as "...blind to the special privileges they’ve been given in life...". To my way of elite/woke thinking, you can apply the same description to 98% (or more) of conservatives.

Methinks you neglected to note of the six subject justices the one who benefited from affirmative action and afterward reportedly bemoaned his perception that attaining his Juris Doctor degree in that way irreparably tarnished his accomplishment? Ah, gratitude.

Better Human Beings is a definite solution.

And justice for all is just words to this supreme court. The Justices for the people are outnumbered. The other six let their elite status go to their heads and they seem to believe they really "are supreme".

I respect your opinions which must have a basis in your life’s experience. Your service as Texas Commissioner of Agriculture is commendable as was your support for small farms and farmers.

What I don’t understand is why you aren’t a serious advocate for border control, implementing the US laws regarding legal and illegal immigrants….even if it takes a wall. Yes I understand that the majority of illegals are seeking economic relief, plus some Chinese and Soviet spies. We don’t need immigration reform; just implement the laws on the books.

Some of the most patriotic Americans I know are legal immigrants, very aware of the advantages of the US compared to their country of origin.

Why are you so unhappy with the Supreme Court? Isn’t their task to rule on the constitutionality of laws? We may not like the 14th amendment but it is the law, and abortion is not covered in the Constitution.

It seems the primary issue of preference shows up in the Ivy League schools that typically generate progressives with high flown, impractical ideas. Who cares? There are plenty of other junior colleges, private colleges, state colleges that can provide serious students with an opportunity to start higher education and progress to their ability, as many minorities have. I’m one, a NYS redneck admitted to Cornell University where my classmates were children of the Los Alamos physicists and those from the Bronx. Under academic pressure I transferred to a small private school, then for a Masters at the University of Reno, Ph.D at the University of California.

I’d like to continue to receive your newsletter, which certainly provides a different perspective that offered by my wife.

John, I enjoyed your message, especially the last sentence. But remember, NOBODY has the same perspective as a wife!
