The messaging piece - really discouraging. I've mentioned it to a few local Dem office holders, and they pretty much throw up their hands, saying something like: "Well, the state party will do what the state party wants to do. As for me, I'm raising money and awareness for [fill in the Dem candidate at the state/regional level]."
