The World Economic Forum defines the system that it wants to create as "Stakeholder Capitalism".

"I have one share in corporate Earth, and I am nervous about the management."

~ E.B. White

"When the people shall have nothing more to eat, they will eat the rich."

~ Jean Jacques Rousseau

"World’s five richest men double their money as poorest get poorer —

Oxfam predicts first trillionaire within a decade, with gap between rich and poor likely to increase."

"We must make our choice. We may have democracy, or we may have wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both.”

~ Louis Brandeis

But the grim and deadly fact is: "we" have NO CHOICE.

We can choose to focus on doing what needs to be done without giving the money misery power over our actions or allowing numbers of dollars to be the reason for go/no go. See beyond the $ signs into living reality and the true value of the priceless

Very well put, Jim. By the way, does anyone wonder who pays for all this fun? Our guess: we the taxpayers. We could not afford to attend this party, which suits the "elite" just fine. What, mingle with the great unwashed?!?

Or in debt and paying astronomical interest rates?

Elites, Davos and otherwise, have always been with us. What changes the world for the better or worse for "regular folks" is what they focus their talents, influence, and resources on. At one time in the US, wealthy elites focused on founding colleges, libraries, institutions that educated "regular folks" and their communities. Now, not so much. Or are we too buried in everyday media flack to see the good they are accomplishing? I do not know anymore. Thank you JH for your persistent gadflying about these issues. SD Auburn CA

Just like Trump doesn't want the average American at Mara Lardo. He wants money, power, and votes, but he really can't be bothered with just your run of the mill American. He says he does, but have you ever seen him in jeans and a t-shirt with dirty hands? Trump is as elite as they get, don't be conned by his self righteous BS!

You are 100% right about that! What these folks don’t understand is that trust is like virginity—you only have it once! They will be lucky to get any credibility.

Brilliant, as usual. Trust can only happen when words and behavior match. Davos flunks the test.

As Eliza Dolittle sang in My Fair Lady, "Words, words, words, I'm so sick of words." And Greta's wise commentary on the hollow conference statements....they are simply"blah, blah, blah."

Jim I still believe that when Joe is re-elected the first thing that his administration should do is to expand the Supreme Court to at least level the playing field! Then get Citizens United reversed! Then vote every friggen republican out of office!

HELL YES, do this in any order you like, as long I get the first shot at any A++HOLE. at least I have EARNED THAT.

All I can say is, "Amen!" Well, also, maybe just to note that Stephen Doty is correct. I guess my question might be more like, "How can we get the 'elites' locally to do good stuff instead of destructive stuff?" Local, state and regional is where we "peons" might be able to have SOME effect.

Yes. Of Course! and thanks for saying and keeping on keeping on saying it!❤

They should read Jefferson, Madison, Paine, and Adam Smith!

Not to mention the Constitution, which does address "the common good". And that's NOT the same as communism, like the right-wing ignoramuses would have us believe!
