This is an obvious example of how the organization is rigged against the workers, but it’s just one very large one. When money buys the politicians, money rules the roost. We basically have the Republican Party to thank for this stuff. If our representative government were to actually represent us, the vast majority of citizens, instead of ruling us, and representing the moneyed interests that have bought them, we would have an as honest system. In utopia, we’re all equal and free. The best we can do, is oust the big money organization in our political system, and elect representatives that heed our voices in representing our interests, from the president on down. Just sending them off to Washington, and letting them conduct business as usual, hasn’t worked yet. Use your voice, and insist your congressman and senators act in your interests. Start by voting BLUE, now!

Capitalism selects for people who are essentially sociopaths, because caring about human beings gets in the way of maximizing profits. Corporate CEOs who don't follow this dictum are punished by Wall Street, and either they will eventually lose their jobs or the company will suffer and they will lose their jobs. The only solution to this culture of the awful rich is to change the rules of economic life.

The Bezos model is far from new. Campbell's Soup used this to refuse to bargain with the Farm Labor Organizing Committee 40+ years ago. Workers couldn't live on what they made picking tomatoes for Campbell's. But Campbell's didn't directly employ them. They set the tomato price in Ohio, which dictated how much farmers could pay laborers. Campbell's wouldn't negotiate wages, nor would they negotiate tomato prices. So yes, the system is rigged against workers.

Unfortunately, as Steve points out, this system is not new. Republicans bear a large share of responsibility for it, but Democrats are not without guilt. That includes us, because we came to rely a lot on Amazon during the pandemic, and have not been able to break the habit completely. At least, give the party of the People some credit for past progress, and for trying to support unions. Vote BLUE is still the best option, considering what waits behind the curtain if the orange "Fuehrer" bounds onto the stage - again!

I understand the guilt that comes with every Amazon purchase. As a handicapped person, it is nearly impossible for me to shop except online, even for some necessities, but I cringe every time I place an order. And yes, I absolutely vote Blue. Here's to hope for the future.

There are online shopping opportunities ‘Etsy’ for stuff, ‘Vitacoast’ for vitamins and food items, including snacks. Great you are feeling guilty about amazon. They are spending 7.2 Billion in Israel on wifi systems. If you think blue is better than tRump, think again and don’t listen to MSM. Take care, stay sane.

DoorDash is tantamount to slavery. Apparently, no labor laws apply and they can turn off the app whenever they choose for no apparent reason. The reason they give is "fraud" for everyone it seems, but they don't have to explain.

I've never used DoorDash, though I have considered it as I find myself less able to handle once routine activities. At 93 I've come to believe what the poet said: Age is an implacable foe. So, I see, is DoorDash. Thanks for the information. I will starve before I apply to them for help.

That is not bull dodo, but what can be done when business owns the politicians and therefore the government?

That's the other side of the coin. Money owns our representatives.

Unfortunately, this is the pattern of almost all the mega-rich--keep as much as you can for yourself and screw the little guys who make it happen. I applaud the former wives of Bezos and Gates for giving much of their wealth away. Their husbands could learn from them.

It's a low down shame when someone who makes almost 8 million dollars an hour can't afford to let a worker pee. Thanks for making me feel good about never ordering anything from Amazon

AMAZON - During the shut down, the government gave amazon and and the grocery and big box stores (walmart) the opportunity to get rid of their smaller, local competitors. Thank you COVID, Thank you government - the 2 headed snake. Now Amazon owns Whole Foods.

Local Farmers, preferable Organic, regenerative -

buy American and stop corporations abuse of (slave) labor in other countries - as much as possible -good luck

MAHA Make America Healthy Again - clean air, food, water - Holistic medicine - childrenshealthdefense.org why are food corporations (which are mainly owned by the big tobacco companies- allowed to sell food items here with toxins banned over seas - yet can sell the same product over seas without the toxin?

Healthy people would save thousands annually by staying away from our SICK care system

While I encourage making the food supply for our country healthier, the MAHA movement is the brainchild of a man who would deny children life-saving vaccines. Not a good trade-off, in my opinion.
